Good News at Christmas

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” (Luke 2:10)
Only twenty two shopping days until Christmas! But what are you looking forward to most in this season of joy? The presents? The cards with their news of friends near and far? The turkey and Christmas pud?
The angel told the shepherds the good news. “Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) Many people enjoy Christmas, some don’t, but either way very many are missing out on the REAL reason for joy at Christmas time – the birth of the Saviour of the world. Nobody can really enjoy Christmas until they can look up into the Father’s face and tell Him that they have received His Christmas Gift. Even as believers we can be side-tracked by the TV and the commercialism from Jesus, the reason for the season.
`Yet to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.’ (John 1:12-13) I pray that God will help us all to celebrate Christmas this year for the right reasons. And remember that the Saviour of the world is good news for ALL people – not just those who have already received Him.
If you can, please help in delivering our Church Christmas Card across North Springfield and Beaulieu Park. Many hands make light work! Then there are so many other ways we can share our joy with others at Christmas time: a truly Christ-centred message in our Christmas cards, and personal invitations to friends and neighbours to come along to our special Christmas services, particular Carols and Cake on Thursday 20th December at 7.30 pm and our popular Christingle Service on Sunday 23rd December at 4.00 pm.
Please make all the visitors and guests most welcome on these occasions. And seek in all that you say and do to let Jesus, the Light of the World, shine in your life this Christmas.
